Book Craze

Hi everyone sorry I have been so slow with the posting things got a bit busy here but they have calmed down now and I should be able to go back to posting more regularly! Anyhoo today's post is what I call my BOOK-CRAZE, I have noticed lately that I am buying books faster then I read them, which has caused me to have a big pile of unread books on my bookshelf. I try to tell myself you don't need to buy anymore books right now you already have several at home you haven't read yet, and what happens? I get to the store and just can't resist getting at least one! I mean its just one right!! But then one turns into two and two turns into four and before I know it my unread pile is almost as big as my read pile. Does anyone else out there have this problem? A site I follow called Random Buzzers got me thinking about this topic when they started a discussion about what they called book hoarding! :) I defiantly fit that category! So I gotta say I am a Book Hoarder and Proud of it!!

Until next time, Happy Reading - Andrea

Trying Something New

Happy Monday Everyone! Lately I have noticed that my collection of books seems to fall into a few categories Mystery, Paranormal and Mystery so I have decided to start pushing myself to try reading some new genres I don't usually go for :) So far some genre's that I have decided to try are SteamPuck, Romance and Comedy. What are some new genre's you would like to try?

Book Review: The Vinly Princess - Yvonne Prinz

Summer is here, and 16-year-old Allie, a self-professed music geek, is exactly where she wants to be: working full-time at Berkeley’s ultra-cool Bob and Bob Records. There, Allie can spend her days bantering with the street people, talking the talk with the staff, shepherding the uncool bridge-and-tunnel shoppers, all the while blissfully surrounded by music, music, music.

I very much enjoyed this quirky entertaining read. The characters were great they were all so developed and so wonderful in all their uniqueness. The big thing the book centers on is music (of which I am devote fan). It is brimming with cool musical references and has so many cool new ideas of music to try. Reading this book made me want to branch out and try to listen to something that isn't rock, so far I have not succeeded I just ended up listening to Snow Patrol for hours, but I plan to keep trying :) Anyway this is a great book for anyone with a passion for music or quirky books with quirky characters! I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Have a great day! And Happy Reading! ~Andrea~

Book Review: Darkness Becomes Her

Ari can't help but feeling lost and alone. With teal eyes and freakish white hair that can't be changed or destroyed, Ari has always stood out. And after growing up in foster care, she longs for some understanding of where she came from and who she is.

Her search for answers uncovers just one message from her long dead mother: Run. Ari can sense that someone, or something, is getting closer than they should. But it’s impossible to protect herself when she doesn’t know what she’s running from or why she is being pursued.

She knows only one thing: she must return to her birthplace of New 2, the lush rebuilt city of New Orleans. Upon arriving, she discovers that New 2 is very...different. Here, Ari is seemingly normal. But every creature she encounters, no matter how deadly or horrifying, is afraid of her.

Ari won’t stop until she knows why. But some truths are too haunting, too terrifying, to ever be revealed.

I was so into this book that I read it in one setting. I was up till 3 in the morning absolutely unable to put this book down. It just had so much mystery that I was on the edge of my seat. I loved all the characters, they were all just so unique and so wonderful to read about. Plus it had that whole greek gods and goddess myth thing going on, of which I am a huge fan :)When I got to the big revelation in the book I was so excited to know what the big mystery was but I was also so sad becasue that meant it was over until the next book :( So as you can tell by my gushing this is an awesome read that I give 5 out of 5 stars too and I reccomend everyone go read it! - Happy Reading ~ Andrea ~

Shareing Monday

Hi! Happy Monday.

So for today's sharing I am going to tell you about a few of my favorite books =)

1. Devoured by Amanda Marrone = Ever since I was a little girl I have loved fairy tales. I loved them all Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Alice in Wonderland etc. but my favorite was always Snow White. I don't know what it was about that particular story that made me love it so much but I always have. So when I was browsing Thur the bookstore one day and I came across this book Devoured it instantly caught my attention because of the cover. On the front it had a picture of a pale girl with black hair and red lips holding an apple, sound familiar? I ended up buying it and I loved it. Its about this girl named Megan who has just started working at The Land of Enchantment theme park. She finds the job stupid especially since she has to dress up like Snow White but she took the job to keep an eye on her boyfriend Ryan who also works there, along with a girl named Samantha who he says is just his "friend". So not only does Megan have to worry about her boyfriend being all over Samantha and her job which she hates but she is also being haunted by her dead twin sister. Its a great book with a mystery and a bit of creepy edge what with people ending up dead with their hearts cut out and her seeing the ghost of her sister.

2. Fairest of All: A Tale Of The Wicked Queen by Serena Valentino = I figured I might as well stick with the Snow White theme. This one is basically the original story of Snow White but instead of seeing the story from Snow White's point of view you see it from The Wicked Queen's point of view. Honestly if you read this you will find yourself actually feeling pity for The Wicked Queen.

Okay I think have blabbed on enough I will continue talking about more books I love next Monday! Happy Reading ~ Andrea~

Sharing Monday

Hi! Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great New Years :)

So here we go with this weeks sharing Monday. I have decided to share one of my first memories of when I realized my love for books. I was 5 years old and it was Christmas. As embarrassing as it is to admit this I also had a great love for Winne-The-Pooh back then. So that Christmas my mom had really went all out on the pooh bear stuff. She got me a pooh bear bed set a pooh bear activity book etc. Well my favorite present out of all the stuff she got me was, this big pooh bear storybook. It was a hardback and was at least 450 pages maybe more. Oh how loved that book, from Christmas night on I made my mom read me at least one story out of that book every night. It was one of my most cherished possessions. And now 12 years later I still have that book! And its in great condition. I am saving it to give to my kids.

Well that's it for today! Happy Reading! - Andrea
